How Low Can He Go?
By Justin Gardner | Related entries in PollsAs a current Democrat and a soon to be Centrist, I have some mixed feelings about this. It’s never good when a country doesn’t like its President that much. Far be it from me to be a Nationalist, but countries seem more productive when they believe they can trust their President.
However, Bush isn’t the centrist that Clinton was. Sure, the guy was impeached for doing some stupid, stupid things, but you have to admit that he certainly knew exactly what programs to push to be defined as a Centrist.
That’s why these dropping poll numbers for Bush come as no surprise:
President Bush’s job approval rating remains in a slump, far below his post-9/11 high, with less than half of Americans saying he is doing an “excellent” or “pretty good job,” and 55% ranking his performance as “only fair” or “poor,” a Harris Interactive poll shows.
Let’s hope Bush can come back to the middle ground, where all great Presidents usually end up. After all, politics is compromise and its hard to have progress unless there’s balance in the force. ;-)
