Yes, There Were Voting Problems In Ohio
By Justin Gardner | Related entries in ElectionsBut not enough to tip the balance towards Kerry.
From the Washington Post:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – More than a quarter of voters, and more than half of black voters, experienced problems at Ohio polling places during the 2004 presidential vote, a Democratic Party report said on Wednesday.
But the problems were not enough to have changed the outcome in the state that put President Bush over the top in his battle for the White House with Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, it concluded.
So what do the Republicans think?
Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman called the report “pure political fiction.”
Huh? So Ken is saying that a report that said their were irregularities, but not enough to make John Kerry the president is pure political fiction? Explain that one to me.
Listen, there were voting irregularities in Ohio. Everybody saw the lines. Everybody heard about people having to wait for 12 hours to vote. It’s a ridiculous, broken system that’s screwed us out of certainty and national unity for the past 8 years.
What’s needed is a new way. We need to declare a national voting holiday otherwise this is will happen over and over and over again.
Thoughts?
