Al Qaeda Leader Killed

Younus Mohamed Al-Hayari was the alleged leader of Al Qaeda in Saudia Arabia.

Not anymore.

Security forces conducted two raids in the Al-Rawda district after learning that Al-Qaeda members were using houses there as hide-outs. During the first raid, two suspects were arrested without any struggle, the ministry said.

“In the second raid, security forces were shot at and exchanged fire with the militants, the statement said, adding that the militants threw a hand grenade at security forces following the gunbattle.

Two suspects were killed in the gunbattle, the ministry said. Forensic reports later established the identity of one of them as Younus Mohamed Al-Hayari, believed to be the leader of the terror network in the Kingdom. A suspect arrested in the second raid sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital, sources said.

It’s good to see that Saudia Arabia is starting to get serious about their terrorism problem. Their country has too long been a breeding ground and safe haven for those who would gladly orchestrate another 9/11 style attack.

And I think we can all agree that there’s no way we can’t let that happen again.

And as Winds Of Change reports, their seems to be a lot of progess in the area:

The area surrounding Qaim on the Syrian border is becoming a graveyard for al Qaeda. High-ranking members such as Khalid Suleiman Darwish, Zarqawi’s second in command, and Abdullah al-Rashood, a leader of al Qaeda in Saudi Arabia have recently been killed in the region. And the Americans aren’t the only ones opposing al Qaeda.

More reports of red-on-red fighting between local insurgents and al Qaeda are being reported in the area. US Marines are being treated to some Fourth of July festivities, watching members of the insurgent-friendly Sulaiman tribe and al Qaeda exchange high-caliber fireworks. Zarqawi’s brand of governance is catching on like wildfire.

Again, it’s good to see this news. Let’s hope they keep fighting a smart war, instead of some ill planned offensive that leaves our Armed Forces mired in street by street guerilla warfare.
