Snow White Being Retooled As Kung Fu Epic?

I don’t know if this is a sign of the apocalypse, but…

YEUN WOO-PING, the celebrated fight choreographer for KILL BILL, THE MATRIX and CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON will direct the film, which will see Kung-Fu Shaolin monks replacing the seven dwarves from the original BROTHERS GRIMM fairytale.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author MICHAEL CHABON has written the script for the film, which will be set in the 1880’s in a British colony in China.

Huh? What? Who? Why? How?

I love Chabon. I love Woo-Ping. I don’t know that I love this idea though. However, it takes some serious cajones to completely reinvent this story, so kudos to them for that.

The Magnificent Seven was a re-telling of Seven Samurai… Seven Dwarfs, Seven Shaolin it’s a natural progression. As long as there are seven something it’ll be awesome. =P
