No Time for Cynicism, We’re Goin’ to Space, Baby!

Since my childhood I have been star-struck by the space program and have always gotten a rush of excitement watching a launch. The memories of the two Space Shuttle disasters are burned into my memory as vividly as the events of 9-11, but the wonder at the technology and teamwork that goes into space flight makes me as excited as the school child I was watching the first Space Shuttle launches.

I am sure there is room for political debate around the government funded space program; but I can’t bring myself to examine it with my usually healthy sense of skepticism, or cynicism toward politics and politicians — I’m not sure I even want to — because it is my inner child that will watch tomorrow with wide eyes.
