		<description>1: There seems to be a great deal of hay made of Hillary being the heir apparent.  Powell would have to overcome this.

2: It's Powell.  If anyone could pose a credible alternative to Hillary, it'd be him.

3: He hasn't expressed much desire to run, despite a lot of popular support for it in 2000.

4: Nominating Powell would likely signal a sea change in the Dems' party line.  Namely, a return to the middle.  (I wouldn't count Hillary as such; moderacy is only a recent wardrobe change for her, IMO... and her collectivist fly is open.)  I'm not sure the party's ready to make that change yet, as welcome as it would be.
