The Dems run a Rebublican who was instrumental in making the WMD case for Iraq? Hmmm. ‘twould make primary season interesting, for sure.

There seems to be a great deal of hay made of Hillary being the heir apparent. Powell would have to overcome this.
It’s Powell. If anyone could pose a credible alternative to Hillary, it’d be him.
He hasn’t expressed much desire to run, despite a lot of popular support for it in 2000.
Nominating Powell would likely signal a sea change in the Dems’ party line. Namely, a return to the middle. (I wouldn’t count Hillary as such; moderacy is only a recent wardrobe change for her, IMO… and her collectivist fly is open.) I’m not sure the party’s ready to make that change yet, as welcome as it would be.
