I don’t think it’s a matter of political bias that shapes my (or Jon’s) view of Crossfire. I think Jon was spot on that both the Crossfire hosts never had any motivation to foster anything substantive on the show.

It, like lots of TV, was merely a circus. See the Fire-Breathing Partisans! Jerry Springer, Inside-the-Beltway Edition.

That’s why I hold (to name two poster children for the media circus) Ann Coulter and Al Franken in approximately equal contempt. I’ve caught them both, too often, scoring cheap rhetorical points at the expense of actual reasoning or pursuit of anything conplex.

Blech.

I agree with Rose. I felt Jon made a fool of himself on that show. I love his “Seinfeld like wit” as much as the next guy but it only goes to show that even bery bright lightbulbs like Jon can flicker on occasion.

I surely think it depends on your political bias as to how you viewed the show. I recorded it and watched it several times and, sorry, Jon simply was the bigger fool that night :)

I loved Jon Stewart, but he lost his luster for me after that little display of sanctimonious prickery on Crossfire. Damn it, that show was my version of Vegas wrestling, and I miss it. Stewart, I blame you!
