Conservative Group Won’t Support Roberts

Let’s get real, a lot of these right-wing groups truly despise the GLBT community and their choices. So once it was revealed that Roberts helped out on a landmark gay rights case, it’s only logical that they pull their support. That’s right. I know it sounds odd, but I believe that this is perfectly reasonable and consistent with their views.

I mean, it’s sad and it’s close minded, but it’s still consistent with their values.

Of course maybe they forgot the “Judge not, lest ye be judged”…but hey, whatever.

From the AP:

WASHINGTON – A conservative group in Virginia said Tuesday it was withdrawing its support for Supreme Court nominee John Roberts’ confirmation because of his work helping overturn a Colorado referendum on gays.

The group, Public Advocate of the United States, is one of the first conservative organizations to announce anything but support for the judge

Eugene Delgaudio, the president of the group, said in an interview that he hopes his stance will prod others.

“I know that others feel the same way. I know they believe as I do. They’re just not going to act,” the 50-year-old Northern Virginia man said. “But once I’ve done it, then they can’t claim that no one’s opposing Roberts.”

Wow. Public Advocate, of Falls Church, VA. What’s next? The Dunker Creek Chamber of Commerce?

In other news, a tree fell unobserved in a forest.

Falls Church. Falwell’s plantation. This is as predictable as what oyu might expect out of boulder. Roberts sounds more and more like a good man. And this sounds more and more encouraging. Decent people on the right are going to see how corrosive some of their fellow travelers are.
