Darth Vader: No match for the Solar Death Ray
WARNING
The Solar Death Ray website warns:
The sun is bright. Don’t look at the sun or you will damage your eyes. Anything that focuses the sun will only make it more dangerous. The Solar Death Ray is dangerous. Don’t build one. I’m surprised I haven’t burnt or blinded myself yet. The fumes from molten plastic can’t be good either. Don’t play with fire.
Fun with the sun. Done with an array of mirrors mounted on a piece of wafer board at precise angles to concentrate sunlight into a small area where several different objects have been placed and the results photographed. Add some funny commentary and you get a cool and interesting website.

heh. “I have the mirrors, but I did not melt the car, you see….”
Actually, I *do* have the mirrors, and was going to turn it into a solar-powered forge, if my accomplice would ever get off her butt and finish her dissertation…
now, where’s my high-temp fresnel lens?
