John Hinckley Granted More Visitation Privileges?

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in General Politics, History

The man who shot Reagan is being okayed by hospital therapists. Could he be fooling them? Who knows…

From Breitbart.

John Hinckley’s relationships with women are normal, two of his therapists testified Tuesday, disagreeing with suggestions by government attorneys that the presidential assailant is not yet ready for lengthy visits to his parents’ home in Virginia.

Hinckley has no symptoms of mental illness and trips would be good therapy, Dr. Sidney Binks testified in federal court. A judge is considering whether to allow Hinckley overnight stays for several days at a time at his parents’ home in Williamsburg.

His family lives a three-hour drive from the Washington hospital where he has spent more than two decades for shooting President Reagan and three other people in 1981.

This guy was very sick back in the 80s and did an amazingly horrific thing. But people DO get better with therapy and medication. Personally, I think he should be granted this visitation with his parents. It’s not like he’s being released into general population. And to be specific, I would oppose that.

But seriously, think about it for a moment. You know that somebody who tried to kill a President is going to be under the close watch of our secret service. There’s no way he would be able to get away from his parents’ house.

Now, some may think he deserves no rights after trying to take Reagan’s life, but I think he was mentally ill and didn’t really appreciate the full magnitude of his actions.

Disagree if you must, but remember I don’t think he should ever be fully released. This little gesture will only help a sick man appreciate exactly what he did and the reprecussions it had.
