Please I beg of you, donÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t write a blog entry where your readers have to Ã¢â‚¬Å“decodeÃ¢â‚¬Â? the riddle-like text by having to open as many as 4 links before the point of the post even becomes apparent.

For those of us who have served in the Army, this is more like deja-vu all over again. I can definitely relate to what these ex-soldiers are going through, and am glad they made enough noise to get this some attention. The Army has always been extremely tough and unforgiving on this issue. It’s a shame it took so long for them to start correcting this problem, but then that’s the Army. There’s the right way to do something, the wrong way, and the Army way. It’s always been like that, and probably always will be.

I think if you go back through the records 10-20 years you’ll find some Congressmen hopping up and down about how some soldiers were overpaid and never coughed up the money. Constituents got lots of letters about how their Rep. was ferreting out “fraud, waste, and abuse.” Then they allocated half the necessary money for an upgrade of the pay system software and went out to a fundraiser.

Now some other (or maybe the same) Congressmen are getting ink complaining about the rules being enforced too harshly. Interesting how the guys who oversee creating rules become good guys by helping people escape the consequences of those rules.

Note that the above applies to members of both parties.
