Sam, the special prosecutor has said multiple times that Plame was covert. That was her status, whether you like it or not.

And Libby was convicted by a jury of his peers, so apparently Fitzgerald had enough evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he did more than forget.

Valerie Plame WAS NOT a covert agent. It is only a crime to reveal a COVERT AGENT. The fact that Valerie Plame was CLASSIFIED does not mean a thing. No criminal charges could be sustained so they went for pergury. This was pure dirty democratic politics. Much like the Lacrosse players at Duke University.

This is pure Democratic Party bull. There was no underlying crime here. Just a lapse of memory. No one should be jailed for forgetting something.
Typical liberal tactic. Bring up phony charges and hope you can catch someone in a lapse of memory and then call it a lie. No one should ever go to jail for forgetting something if there is no underlying crime proven.

The difficulty is in how that particular law is written - the way I understand it, not only do they have to prove that they KNEW she was undercover, but that they willfully disclosed her status to cause harm, or something like that.

Basically the law has loopholes any decent lawyer could drive a garbage truck full of Republicans through.

Very interesting… so what was the source that conservatives were using to say she wasn’t classified at the time? I’m sure I even heard that on the nightly news once in a while.
