The clash of ‘civilisations’ in Paris and maybe in France as a whole, was a disaster waiting to happen. I doubt we’ll see a similar thing occur here. Most Muslims in the US are comfortably middle class or approaching that. They are also pretty well integrated into our society, at least as compared to Europe. If it weren’t for the head scarves in school colors, you couldn’t tell the Muslim girls from any of the others at my daughter’s school. The riots are occurring in North African ghettos, whose inhabitants have no possibility or hope of moving into mainstream French society. French unemployment is bad, at 10%, but unemployment in the areas that are rioting is running at about 30% (that’s the number that sticks in my head – may be wrong). France has no system by which to allow those in the lower economic classes to move up. This has been a time bomb for years, now.

After the London bombings there was talk from MI5 that a sustained Islamist uprising could be coming to Britain. Well, it seems he had the right idea, just the wrong country.

One thing I wonder is, how likely is a similar insurrection to happen here in America, say in NYC? Terrorism is one thing, but a prolonged outright Islamist rebellion on our own soil is a prospect I find much more unsettling.

These rioters are actually demanding that the French Police leave their suburbs and not to interfere with these ‘occupied territories’….. can you belive this?????
