I don’t know. But, the burden should be on those who support torture to prove that it does work.

How useful is tourture? There isn’t much emperical evidence to either side, and I don’t expect an academic study soon. One one side we hear “tourture isn’t useful, the information obtained isn’t worth anything.” On the other, there must be a reason the CIA and intellegence organizations throughout civilization have used tourture. I don’t buy the “they are just evil”. Some are, but most just want information. Does anyone have a good way to find out if tourture works?

So is there any case to be made for the more aggressive handling of detainees in the war on terror, the treatment Cheney seems to be advocating? Or should we just join the pack that writes off this as another evidence of fascism in Amerikkka courtesy of Shrubbie McChimplerburton?

Because, after all, it’s an either-or proposition. Either you’re with Dick Cheney, or you’re with Osama bin Laden.

These torture apologetics are getting stale.
