I felt the most comfortable with Lieberman of all the candidates in '04. I think the Democratic pull out offensive is ill judged and ill timed. And it is extreme enough to still hurt them in '08. What Bush and Lieberman say about what is happening in Iraq fits a lot more closely what the soldiers and the close in observers who are actually reporting the military and political campaigns in Iraq - people like Bill Roggio or some Iraqi bloggers - than what the Dems are saying. Murtha's 'broken' and Kerry's 'terrorizing women and children' sound more like descriptions of their experience in the 70s than what is happening now. The Dems were doing fine too. Old 'unforced error' George was really helping them out. Sitting like a big dummy in Crawford giving Sheean all the sound bites, flying over rather than into the aftermath of Katrina, and then - gotta love it - Harriet Meires. A hat-trick.
