Abramoff Gave A Lot To Republicans…

…but he also gave a lot to Democratic causes, committees and leaders.

Basically, here’s how it breaks down. The Republicans recieved from Abramoff, either directly or through Native American tribes, about $2,909,588. Actually, a vast majority of the money came from the tribes who owned casinos. The Dems got $1,541,673 from the same sources. So I guess that makes them about $1.4 million less corrupt?

..heh…

Vote for Democrats: 30% less corrupt than the next leading brand Republicans.

The Indian tribes should not be lumped in with Abramoff; their donations are not illegal. I’d like to see the figures on money Abramoff alone donated. I believe you will find this is not bipartisan at all.

Well, it appears that Abramoff gave *no* money directly to Democrats.

Look to this post from my blog (But He Gave Money To The Dems too!… oh, never mind ), which has a link to a site (NewsMeat) that allows for a full search of the federal campaign donation database.

Bear in mind that these donations are the *legal* ones that Abramoff himself gave, not any “under the table” cash or donations that he told his clients to give to candidates and PACs.

The under-the-table (what we In Real Life call “bribes”) and directed donations are another kettle of fish entirely. ANd there *will* be fallout over those directed donations.

However, just how candid Jackie A is will determine if the plea-bargin jailtime he spends is served concurrently or consequtivly (a difference of serving either 10 years or 17 years…)

Yes, Abramoff gave a bunch of money personally to Dems as well. Just look at the website I linked to in the post.

  5. Tom Strong Says:

Uh, Justin…you may want to look at that again. If you select “Donations by Donor” and then “Abramoff, Jack and Pamela”, donations to Democrats are completely absent.

    Never mind…I missed your retraction.
