Paleo-conservatives have every bit as much to hate about corporatism and imperialism as the most dovish and bleeding heart liberals. Pat Buchanun's book, for instance, "Where the Right Went Wrong" is a rebuke of the neo-cons foreign policy. Grover Norquist is no friend of G.W. - his famous desire to reduce the fed. gov't to the size it can be "drowned in the kitchen sink" is obviously not shared by this administration. Furthermore, a basic tenet of conservative dogma is a distrust of government, particularly the federal government. It makes sense that in a time of civil liberty toe-stepping, the ideological fringes from opposite sides find common ground.
