Listen, if Durbin really would have been flustered, well, I think it's fair to write post like that. But that simply didn't happen and I think blogging like this is what gives people pause about trusting us. And that goes for both the right and the left.

And as far as the whole knock on journalists, I'd honestly like to see Mirengoff trade paint with the media types and see who comes off as more informed and objective.

Of course, maybe he was talking about NewsMax.

His description is very misleading, as is Mark Tapscott's. Durbin has been through plenty of press conferences, and he certainly didn't appear flustered. Both in his questioning of Durbin and his subsequent write-up, what comes through overwhelmingly is Mirengoff's overwhelming sense of self-importance. On the day Gonzalez testifies in front of the Senate about the NSA program, I'm sure what Capitol Hill is "buzzing" about is Mirengoff's questioning of Dick Durbin. And the Dan Rather remark was way over the top. I'll bet anything Mirengoff was sweating and his heart was racing when he was done, while evryone else just went about their business like it was any other day. That blowhard doesn't realize he was the clown in the room.
