Durbin has been through plenty of press conferences, and he certainly didn't appear flustered. Both in his questioning of Durbin and his subsequent write-up, what comes through overwhelmingly is Mirengoff's overwhelming sense of self-importance. On the day Gonzalez testifies in front of the Senate about the NSA program, I'm sure what Capitol Hill is "buzzing" about is Mirengoff's questioning of Dick Durbin. And the Dan Rather remark was way over the top. I'll bet anything Mirengoff was sweating and his heart was racing when he was done, while evryone else just went about their business like it was any other day.
