It is an amazing story, but the amazing part is the heroism of the younger — the elder was corrupt through and through, and trying to redeem his family name likely had little to do with his decision to turn state’s evidence.

Well, I’ll go with the version as written. After all, the guy KNEW he was going to get capped back then. Something tells me that the story is pretty accurate about the guy’s intentions.
