Repulsive

Here’s something we can all probably (hopefully) agree on:

These people are repulsive in every sense of the word.

I have a few more comments on the matter here.

Phelps is such a sad man.

As someone who has attended several funerals of close relatives, I’m not sure I could contain myself if there were protesters like these present. I would think this crap rises to the level of hate speech, and should, therefore, not be protected by the First Amendment.

One of the many reasons I dislike Kansas.

  3. Michael Reynolds Says:

This is one of those cases where someone needs to get a few guys together, take baseball bats to these assholes, and then throw themselves on the mercy of the court.

  4. Jeff B. Says:

I just wish that more people would have denounced Phelps before he started protesting soldiers’ funerals. Missouri and Kentucky were not introducing bills to limit funeral protests when he was just targeting homosexuals’ funerals, which was equally horrible.

Yeah, give em more ammo…that’ll work.

Best to just wait until Phelps dies and let his church (which is made up solely of family members) die along with him.

That’s because Republicans don’t respect homosexuals.

  7. Jim Says:

“In the back of a truck, there were signs that read “Thank God for IED’s”

Sadly there are no IEDs where that truck passes.

On balance I think it’s a good thing that more fundamentalist groups have not spoken out to denounce him – there is no connection and they have no special responsiblity. In fact it’s probably good everyone ignores him. The more you stir shit, the more it stinks. On the other hand, churches would only be doing their pastoral duty by pointing out what is and isn’t heresy. At least this particular Satanist is no longer caling himself or his odious coven Christian.

  8. Callimachus Says:

Ignore them, ignore them, ignore them. They thrive on publicity. Every attempt to craft a law specifically targeted at them will backfire. They’ll sue, and probably win. Violence, as satisfying as it may be in the moment, will end the same way.

  9. Brian in MA Says:

My response can be summed up in two words:

    …The f***?

  10. GN Says:

Tires … It’s all about tires .. Ninja suits and nails .. Ground the fuckers before they get to the funeral … then tell them to Pray for Air!

Democrats can introduce bills, too, you know. Oh, and FYI, as of 2004 Kentucky Democrats controlled the lower house of the state legislature, 65 to 35.

  12. Meredith Says:

    Justin,
Hopefully when Phelps dies, all the BS will die with him, but I’m not sure if that will happen because his whole (inbred) family is involved in his organization, and I guess there are quite a lot of them.

  13. Jim Says:

Sweet, yet another reason I get to keep riding my motorcycle. Unfortunately we’re moving to Kansas in August for 2 years of grad school. crap.

  14. Meredith Says:

Jim, make sure you stop by Topeka to see some Phelps family fun. They apparently make a regular habit of picketing in the community parks on nice days with signs that say, “God hates fags.”

  15. Ed Bremson Says:

Words are not adequate to express the outrage. Where are the bats?
