Do You Like Battlestar Galactica?
By Justin Gardner | Related entries in MediaI do, and after reading this post by Michael Reynolds, I don’t want to download the latest episode. But I will anyway…and I’m sure I’ll love it.
Jumped the shark Reynolds?
We shall see…

Now see, if you’d been like me and not bothered to watch it in the first place you wouldn’t have to worry if it jumped or not. When I heard about some of the changes from the original and some of the plot elements they intended for the new version I decided it wasn’t for me. The original wasn’t the greatest sci fi show ever but they threw out some of the stuff that made it interesting for the new version.

Last summer I met Richard Hatch (the original Captain Apollo) at an independent film festival. He was looking for funding for a really awful independent science fiction epic.
The first rule of “independent” films is that 95% of them totally suck, and he had the first rule down pat.
Now if it had been the actress who played his sister on the original BG, looking for money to remake Behind the Green Door, I at least would not have fallen asleep during the promo trailers.

I like the new Galactica. Probably because I’ve never really seen the old one :p I do think they could have stretched out the “Cylons are chasing us trying to annihilate us OMG!” thing a little longer. But I think the Baltar-resurrected lover 6-psychotic delusion 6 triangle could prove interesting.

Well I have had a segment all about Galactica on my radio program for over a year now. The show is great, its a scifi West Wing to me.
The cliffhanger blew me away as it more or less rebooted the series or reset the clock on everything that we knew for two seasons.
So now we get to learn all about these characters all over again.
Great season finale, the final scenes will have you kicking your screen wanting more, I GUARANTEE it !!!

I thought it was great, personally. One of the riffs I really like was the whole question about the rigged election: Moore seems to be asking whether Democracy really IS a suicide pact.
