Abdul Rahman May Not Be Screwed

This is very good news:

An Afghan Christian facing possible execution for converting from Islam was likely to be released from jail “soon,” a senior government official said following huge Western pressure over the case.

“He is likely to be released soon,” the official said, adding there would be a top-level meeting on the matter Saturday.

Awesome. Religious freedom deserves no less.

Will the Afghan judges consider every Christian convert to be “mentally unfit” for trial in the future? As soon as this guy steps out of the courtroom, he is going to be torn to pieces. The religious freedom issue won’t be solved anytime soon.

  2. Chayim Yenkel Says:

Jimmy’s right on both counts. Where is the good news here?

  3. Chayim Yenkel Says:

    oops! all three counts!

Sure, it’s good news for Abdul. The Afghani government takes a major credibility hit though. Morality is contextual.
