You guys are buying Hersch's lie? If a JCS threatened to resign over nuclear plans, he would be fired tomorrow. Strile that - it would be yesterday. Funny thing is, it wouldn't be for disloyalty but for the failure to understand the basics of the planning cycle.

The real issue is whether Bush is engaged in brinksmanship or if this is part of his messianic reordering of the Middle East and democracy spreading and the rest of the lunancy. Lord, lets pray for the 1st and not the 2nd.

DosPeros,
Not only would he catch flack from his frat buddies, but IAEA may tell use Bushco's claims about Iran are as good as the propoganda he spun about Iraq. 3.5 % enrichment cannot make a bomb. I have not heard anything about triggering or electronics needed to detonate a bomb. Did Pakistan give Iran the tech needed to build a bomb, if so, that is one friendly allie.

Another diplomat in Vienna asked me, “Why would the West take the risk of going to war against that kind of target without giving it to the I.A.E.A. to verify? We’re low-cost, and we can create a program that will force Iran to put its cards on the table. A Western Ambassador in Vienna expressed similar distress at the White House’s dismissal of the I.A.E.A. He said, “If you don’t believe that the I.A.E.A. can establish an inspection systemif you don’t trust themyou can only bomb.

I thought this was a good point. Why not strategically use IAEA? Answer--cause Bush gets teased back at the frat house for being a wussy Europhile fruitcake.
