Dems Move First Primary To California?

By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Elections, General Politics

Interesting. Dems could have THE biggest state deciding who their candidate is going to be. It would be costly, but I can bet you that canvassers would much rather brave the brush fires of Cali than the biting cold of Iowa or New Hampshire.

Still…will it happen? Unlikely.

  1. Michael Reynolds Says:

This would be a huge pro-Hillary move. Anyone can spend enough to play in NH, it’s where dark horses go to gain traction, but CA costs major, major cash. Hillary will have the money going in.

Many have tried to dislodge NH and failed. It’s an industry for those people. Still, even squeezing CA into second place, say a week after NH — or even dispense with the traditional Tuesday and hold it over the weekend — would have the effect of diminishing NH. Whatever happened in NH or Iowa people would say well, let’s see what happens next week (or this weekend) in CA. It would make it hard for an NH winner to attract money.

Why NH and Iowa in the first place . . . especially NH? Maybe someone already explained this before. Does anyone really live there?

    Just kidding, but still . . . .
