He was in fact there,  quite seperately,  as an applicant for a job.

He had the same first name as the gentleman who it was intended would be interviewed on air.

The facts do not detract from what is a good story and even better chuckle ...

The ITV interview (part of his new-found fame) was not played for laughs,  a good thing.  

I had the impression of a fairly shy man,  not out of place in terms of his ability to handle the situation but certainly not where he expected to be...  I can but wonder what the job was that he was applying for.</description>
