(Not that what I think really matters since I don't live in Connecticut, but...) As is typical, I'm not a fan of either option. I don't like Lamont for the reasons already stated by others, and I don't like Lieberman for a couple of other reasons, but mostly the stances he's taken on technological issues. IMHO, he votes purely based on what he thinks will result in the largest political gain. Nothing out of the ordinary there, but I refuse to vote for such people. They don't know how to take a stand for what is right when the time comes.

The Republicans must love that Lamont is getting money and volunteers that could be going to someone like Bob Casey in Pennsylvania.

Exactly.

DosPeros:

Actually, I'm not sure SpongeBob is American--given as he lives in international waters. Maybe Elmo can run.

As for bringing in professionals, the Democrats don't exactly have a lot of great ones (see: Kerry's campaign). But I think any professional would tell you it's an idiotic waste of time, money and energy to focus on knocking off a moderate OF YOUR OWN PARTY rather than focusing on knocking off one of the opposition's guys. The Republicans must love that Lamont is getting money and volunteers that could be going to someone like Bob Casey in Pennsylvania.

That was a retarded commercial...and then Kos and his Merry Bank of Ritalin Junkies turned it into...well Dean-ish. When will you people learn that grown-ups and professionals are good for campaigns and that over-sugared-high teenagers...do nothing for ya. Hell, many of them can't even vote. I think the Dems should just run SpongeBob Square pants -- you all will take the 4 yr. demographic hands down.

Boy, that Kos ad is a metaphor for Lamont's campaign. Here's this calm, well-spoken guy who has some real differences of opinion with Lieberman, which he'd like to voice .... and then the Kos Kids crash his campaign and take over.

I have no idea if, politically, letting Kos lead the charge is smart. Lamont was a longshot without them and maybe branding himself as part of the spitting-mad left will improve his numbers. But it's quite a gamble given how even most solid-democrats I know are getting mighty tired of the rhetoric and antics of Kos-wing of the party.

There is something about democrats going after other democrats because they are not democrat enough that does not sit well with me. I love being a liberal and a democrat, but it is embarassing sometimes. I bet someone $50 recently that we will somehow manage to mostly lose the '06 and '08 elections, which have been handed to us on a silver platter by this administration. This kind of stuff leads me to think someone will owe me $50.

What has KOS said that is so inflammatory? After 4 contractors were hung from a bridge in Iraq, he said the following:

"That said, I feel nothing over the death of merceneries [sic]. They aren't in Iraq because of orders, or because they are there trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit. Screw them."

Screw Kos.

If you think people like Alito should be a Supreme Court justice then you shouldn’t pretend you are a Democrat.

You realize you're excluding over 60% of the electorate with this statement?

I hear a lot of yapping about KOS and his 'side' of the democratic party.

But what has he said that is so inflammatory? The only thing I see now is that if the D win the house there will be investigations of the White house.

Who in their right mind doen't think there needs to be investigations?

I see him advocating the democrats to stop being pussies. Calling BS to the ridiculous republican talking points.

their image problem with middle America.

I think I am middle america. I own a small business, have 3 kids, one in college. The elephant in the room is that Bush couldn't hold a job packing boxes if his name wasn't Bush.

George Bush's real favorite Democrat just might be Kos himself, since he's been one of the driving forces behind the split in the Democratic base, and their image problem with middle America. The November midterms may be the Dems' to lose, but sometimes it seems the Kos/Moore/Sheehan crowd is bound and determined to do precisely that.

If you think people like Alito should be a Supreme Court justice then you shouldn’t pretend you are a Democrat. Lieberman voted for closure, which was the same as a vote to confirm Alito.

I see nothing wrong trying to get Lieberman out of office. He is trotted out on FOX news every time the Republicans want to show a Democrat agree with them. He is doing more harm than good.

Not to mention that I can’t stay awake listening to him drone on in that whiney voice.
