I loved reading this article and all the comments; it was hilarious. I do agree that’s a pretty banal topic, but you have to admit, it’s kind of funny. Besides, whether you like them or not, baseball caps are pretty popular. And as long as they are, companies will sell them and will pay to have articles written about them. Personally, I look weird in a baseball cap, but I know plenty of people who look just fine.

I don’t think his column was meant to be hilariously funny, but… what do you know, I’m sitting here laughing. Ok, fine, it’s more like chuckling now, but I was laughing. I wear a baseball cap now and then, but honestly, I think it looks terrible on me. The reason I wear it is purely utilitarian — it keeps my hair out of my eyes and it isn’t as fussy as a bandana.

I think MacFresh hit the nail on the head:
Mr. Siegel is truly a master of misunderstanding and being appalled by trends 10 years after they have taken root.

I can’t wait for his time late article on the bothersome hula-hoop or that dad-burned rap music that seems to be catching on.

Personally, I think baseball caps are merely a cheap, readily-available, and not-very-good-looking way of keeping hair out of one’s face. But then, my emotional well-being (unlike Mr. Seigel’s apparently) is not so fragile as to be damaged because someone else is wearing one in my vicinity.

Still, isn’t it wonderful for him that his world is going so well that he has nothing more substantative to worry about!
