In response to your question. No, he is not! Hugo Chaves is written of in scripture. He is one of those 10 hornes that is mentioned in Revelations. America’s doom has already been sealed. Her fall is irraversible. So, don’t cast stones at Brother Hugo for taking his place that has already been written for him in the good book.

On the other hand, Chavez has a point. If there is one country that has intervened more than any in Latin America it would be the USA and sometimes whith horrifying effect. See Chile, Nicaragua, Guatemala. However, rather than building a belligerent armed nation, he should focus on solving his people’s problems. Nationising their oil resources is a start as long as they can manage it properly and avoid the corruption that has plagued Mexico’s national oil company Pemex. His nature is to tweak the nose of the US when he should show latin american nations a better way without selling off natural resources to the highest bidding foreign national.

But does anyone else think that Venezuela and NK forming an anti-U.S. alliance is a bit like a couple of ants deciding to ally against the anteater?

Korean ballistic missiles deployed in Venezuela would be a problem. But that would just trigger Cuban Missile Crisis II — without the superpower support for the other side.

North Korea is isolated and under China’s thumb. Venezuela’s military is tiny and ineffective, their power-projection capability nil. Chavez is a would-be dictator, and his oil resources give him outsized clout. But color me unconcerned.
