Economists For Increasing The Minimum Wage
By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Economy, MoneyI’ve heard quite a few people, both here and elsewhere, say that economists across the board are against raising the minimum wage. Well, here are 562 (PDF) who think it should be increased.
Also, here’s a minimum wage issue guide from the Economic Policy Institute with links, facts and figures.
Read some of this over and tell me what you think.

It probably wont come as a shock that virtually every one of the ‘economists’ that signed that petition are academics…college professors. What a shock.
I read it. Honest…with an open mind I read it. However since THEY dont seem to give credence to economic realities I dont see how I can give it much credibility.
Its a lot like a psych professor that has never practiced giving advice on counseling.

I wouldn’t discount it that easily. Read the link below. Thanks for the link Justin. I’m not saying that I agree with it and that an increase in min. wage wouldn’t have bad economic effect, but at least some of this is supported by more than mere class envy and sentimentality. The problem with EPI is that it really is just a front for labor interests — which if fine — but they have a definite agenda, as does CATO. I’ll still take my economist over yours any day of the week and twice on Sundays. It is a matter of freedom of contract, as well as good economics — something us capitalist believe in.
