Given the current divisions within Tony Blair's government on cooperation with the U.S. I wouldn't take anything from just one person at face value. Secondly, it completely ignores things that I've read and heard from several media outlets that what triggered the arrests had nothing to do with U.S. pressure but with the fact that at least one of the important people in the plot was about to go into areas of Pakistan where the authorities would no longer be able to track him. I was struck by the fact that he never actually came out and said the suspects had any explosives in their possession. The only thing they supposedly had was a “design�. Technically that could be a picture of a bottle with the word “bomb� on it, scrawled on the back of a napkin. I wonder if any government officials have actually said they possessed an assembled working device? Or is all this talk of flashbulbs and false bottoms just speculation from TV talking heads? Then there is the question of what do you call this new breed of clueless terrorist wannabes. Vaporware Terror? Bumble bombers? A few oars short of a terror plot? Killer Klowns?
