Centrist Heroes – Emanuel and Schumer

By Paul Silver | Related entries in Elections, News

“Never underestimate the ability of a small, dedicated group of people to change the world. Indeed, nothing else ever has.” Margaret Mead

This is such a relevant quote when referring to Congressman Rahm Emanuel and Senator Charles Schumer who moved the balance of American politics to the vital center.

As the House and Senate Campaign directors they personally converted the thoughts and feelings of millions of people around the globe into action.
They recruited Centrist candidates.
They raised enough money to offset the GOP resources.
They tenaciously managed the candidates, campaigns and messages.
They are the Democrat’s Rove.

The change would not have happened without them.

Now we know whom to keep our eyes on for insights into how the Congress will perform and how to help in 2008 when all the House Seats, one third of the Senators, and the President are up for election.

Which candidates will they recruit, which messages will they craft, how will they court the independent moderate voters?

  1. Tom Alday Says:

Staffers from Schumer’s illegally stole the credit report of Michael Steele, hoping they could find dirt to use against him. He’s a scumbag, not a hero.

  2. BenG Says:

Mr. Alday; That’s really outrageous. I can’t wait to see the proof of this, I believe this could warrant a total reversal from the outcome of the past election. Wow, good thing you figured this out. You do it all on your own ? Or did you have any help, man this is like CSI stuff, I bet.
You do have proof, don’t you ?
Even if it was true; stole the credit report ? Tried to dig up dirt on an opposing party’s candidate ? Shit, man, you’re ridiculous. Your guys been stealing illegal info about MILLIONS of American citizens, and for what, your war on terror ? Give me a break. You’re failing horribly at that, and now your desperately grasping at straws. Stop embarrassing yourself and go to work, GET SOMETHING DONE, go rake leaves or somethin… Jesus !

  3. Alan Stewart Carl Says:

    “your war on terror.”

Hey, it’s OUR war on terror. We can disagree about the tactics and, hell, we can disagree about what we call it. But the threat is real. Sorry, I’m probably over-reacting. I just hate it when people refer to the terrorist threat as if it’s just another Republican trick.

Anyway, Schumer and Emanuel did a good job. Schumer himself is no centrist, but he’s smart enough to understand the value of maintaining a big tent. I am impressed by his performance–my opinion of his political abilities have certainly increased.

Here ya go Ben : http://www.thewbalchannel.com/news/5004239/detail.html

And saying illegally obtaining the personal records of your political opponents is perfectly fine because of some perceived slight against someone else is pretty lame. Illegal is illegal, it’s pathetic that your apologizing for it.

  5. Paul Silver Says:

It would be nice if candidates only competed on the quality of their ideas, talents and skills.

But if you are competing again a team managed by Karl Rove you better play by his rules or accept defeat.

  6. Tom Alday Says:

“his rules” don’t include stealing credit reports, unless you have some kind of proof that has never been shown in the media. You know you can’t just say something and it magically becomes the truth, you have to back it up with verifiable facts.

  7. David from Philadelphia Says:

    Tom…

You write.. “his rulesâ€Â? don’t include stealing credit reports, ”

and yet, no one has come forward with any kind of verifiable proof that anyone unlawfully stole credit reports. So, as you’ve already noted, the rule governing judgement on this issue should be the rule you put forth…

“You know you can’t just say something and it magically becomes the truth…”

Thanks for outlining very sensible principles for judging others. Now follow them…

  8. Tom Alday Says:

Actually, I did supply proof, in the form of a link, 4 comments up. The link backs up what I said about Schumer’s office illegally obtaining the credit report of Michael Steele.

    Read before you write.
