Wow...Brian in MA said something that sounds almost human...I'm shocked!

Of course in 2008 when 22 Republicans but only 12 Democrats have their heads on the chopping block I'm pretty sure the majority will increase to a safe margin.

Thank goodness it wasn't a stroke, and hopefully Sen. Johnson recovers swiftly. While I would prefer a Republican majority, getting it because a Senator fell ill is not the way to do it, and wishing him ill because of that political reason when it really all depends on the governor's decision is evil anyway. (In fact, wishing ANYONE ill because of their political slant is evil, although it isn't easy to avoid doing so for traitors, dictators, and maniacs.)

Besides, this should serve as a fine enough reality check on Reid as to just how VERY slim his majority is. All Lieberman has to do is vote the other way and Cheney decides. Kicking Joe out in the CT primary is probably going to end up biting the Dems in the rear if they try to be particularly pushy. Not sure if Nancy will gain any nuggets of wisdom from this, considering various people she has tried to appoint and various ridiculous sounding promises she made, but one can always hope the party in power doesn't think 51% = sweeping mandate.
