		<description>The question is, will Congress do anything? Kennedy had planned to make the CIA more transparent before his assassination. Johnson killed it. I think I remember Congress addressing the problem after Viet Nam, &amp; again after Iran Contra. Obviously, they didn&#039;t do the job well enough.

Now we have a Congress hamstrung due to a sizable Republican minority in the Senate, as we have already seen. Unless the Republicans start abandoning the Bush/Cheney ship, nothing will be done till at least 2009. 

Of course, the right wing will dismiss Hersh&#039;s report simply because it appears in &quot;The New Yorker&quot;. It would help if Negroponte went public with his views, but that is not likely to happen. The Cheney administration has a long track record of firing people who disagrees with him.</description>
