Glen’s got it right.

If the local custom was that women must wear chains around their neck and wrists, I doubt that visiting congresswomen would do so. Congressmen don’t wear traditional Saudi dress when they visit that country, even though it is certainly local custom.

Pelosi should have gone as she is.

Here’s what I’m talking about, since you don’t seem to get it: There is nothing wrong with showing respect for someone’s culture, but not for “culture” that is anathema to your own principles. The hijab is the yellow star of the Muslim woman under Shariah; the visible symbol of her chattel status - her social, legal, and spiritual subordination. It makes no difference how many women willingly wear it, because under Islamist tyranny ALL women are required to wear it or face arrest or physical attack, even death. For a female leader of this nation to happily put that thing on is obscene.

Likewise I have no respect for Islamists who complain that an unbeliever touched their Koran at Gitmo. They object to this because it is their belief that non-Muslims are filthy and unclean. If “respect for the culture” requires that I regard myself as unclean, then they can shove that culture up their ass sideways and twist it. And their hijab along with it. Do you understand how I feel now?

Who’s the hypocrite, dj? Could it be a politician who would address a women’s conference one day and kiss up to Islamist creeps the next?

I’m extremely happy Nancy has put on the hijab. It’s about 60 years too late and, unfortunately, she has already offended God to the point that he ordered Albert Speer to design her a hellish bungalow on the 9th rung. Anyway, could be so lucky that she keeps it on when she gets backs - or maybe she falls madly in love with a Syrian - echos of Layli and Madjnun.

It’s interesting that Conservative Radio/TV personality Gelnn Beck neglected to mention this fact on his shows. I assume other pundits of the same vein did likewise.

As for Pelosi and the headscarf maybe she’s trying to hide one of her pairs of eyebrows ( both of which look drawn on).

I’d like to think that the two branches (Bush & Pelosi) were working together to play good cop/bad cop with Syria. Unfortunately I don’t think either are that bright and I just don’t see the two parties working together like that - and that’s really depressing.

Glen - I agree with you about the headscarf. Yuck.

No, I’m not angry because Nancy Pelosi has gone to Syria. Lots of people have gone to Syria.

I’m angry because Nancy Pelosi has gone to Syria AND PUT A GODDAMN SCARF ON HER GODDAMN HEAD.

I’m sick and tired of seeing these people bend over for sexist-fascist Islamist chic. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. UN-F****G-BELIEVABLE.

I hope every woman in the West is taking a good long look at the future that is being prepared for them.
