Will Rice Not Show?

Apparently, she won’t answer the questions in person, but she will in a letter?

Huh?

OSLO, Norway (AP) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Thursday she has already answered the questions she has been subpoenaed to answer before a congressional committee and suggested she is not inclined to comply with the order.

Rice said she would respond by mail to questions from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on the Bush administration’s prewar claims about Saddam Hussein seeking weapons of mass destruction, but signaled she would not appear in person.

“I am more than happy to answer them again in a letter,” she told reporters in Oslo, where she is attending a meeting of NATO foreign ministers.

Supoena, schmupoena…

Condi has been busy and working quietly behind the scenes. She negotiated with Israel and Lebanoon during the war and it was not easy as both accused the US of interference. It was a balancing act. She left her team of negotiators with them and went home. When after daily phone briefings things looked good she would go back for a face to face conference. She also was instrumental in dealing with South Korea. And now she has been putting pressure on Iran’s Arab neighbors to give up a nuclear bomb. The Democrats say they would use other methods to handle Iran, but that is what Condi has been doing. Russia agreed to not give them nuclear material, IAEA froze their asstance programs, and the UN put sanctions on them while we put a great show of force in the Persian Gulf. It needs time to work. Ahmadinejad has launched into his propaganda saying, they can now make their own enriched uranium and made diplomatic inroads and deals with Gerrmany to produce cars. He said the Afghanistan prime minister said he woulnt’ allow anyone to attack Iran from their soil and then he is traveling to see Chavez who he wants I am sure to agree to allow them a strtegic vantage point to launch a nuclear missile at the US. They both know GWB said he wasn’t thinking about attacking Iran.
The Democrats think they can make friends with terrorist states and talk them out of all this. Ahmadinejad and Chaviz feed each others paranoia. The Democrats want to wave the white flag and give up in Iraq. They think the citizens of Iraq will go along with splitting the country into three smaller kingdoms one for each major faction. This would make them happy.

Splitting the country will not make any Iraqis happy. The Kurds, Sunnis, and Shiites live in mixed neighborhoods in Baghdad and to draw a line down the middle is impossible without stranding about a million Sunnis on the Shiite side. Most of the Kurds moved to the northern mountains. They had better replace the Shiite cabinet members that fled after Sadr’s alleged note. Al Maliki ordered a stop to the wall and security gate built around Sunnis nieghborhood. When the Democrats wouldn’t even show up to listen to General Petraeus it showed they weren’t interested in hearing about progress in Iraq. About two hundred rural hospitals built, 268 radio stations and fifty television stations up running as well as many newspapers, building businesses, and clean up of slums, utilities and sewers fixed, and hundreds of educational centers opened all the leftist press published was when a bomb went off they printed nothing about the progress.
