They know their area intimately and can find foreigners better than we can. I don‘t know if the guy is really dead but ASC is at least reducing the freedom of operation he had in the past. The operation has been successful enough that similar groups are being raised in other parts of the country, but notably not in the major cities where undesirables might join. My concern is that these paramilitary units might take on a life of their own after the AQ threat is taken care of, evolving from anti terrorist groups to political intimidation and yet another sectarian private army.
