Unfortunately, they seem to have thought more like "right makes might" -- and therefore not troubled to put any effort into providing the military might that might have made their various bits of war-mongering even vaguely practical. Oh well, I suppose we should be glad that they didn't manage to start any more wars than they did. Or the military would be thoroughly broken long since. If only they had thought that “might makes right.” Unfortunately, they seem to have thought more like “right makes might” — and therefore not troubled to put any effort into providing the military might that might have made their various bits of war-mongering even vaguely practical.
