Quote of the Day

We may be on the verge of a real realignment. I’m a refugee right now, the kind of refugee who sees Ron Paul and Barack Obama as the harbingers of a new politics.

Sully has posted a very thought provoking piece. I never affiliated with a party, but generally vote Democratic because they fit my views better. However, I can’t remember voting for someone rather than against the lesser of 2 evils. In particular, I have been opposed to the US foreign policy since the days of the Contras in Nicaragua. At least in that case, history has proved me correct. The man who defeated the Contras has been elected President, voted out of office, & again elected = all of this without bloodshed, in spite of what we were told what would happen by those in power. Even now, Bush is pushing that same tired line.

I haven’t climbed on the Ron Paul bandwagon, but I’m starting to listen more closely to him. So far, I also will vote for Hillary in the general election just because she is less evil than whoever is likely to run against her, IMO. But like most of us, I suspect, that vote is not yet carved in stone.

Offer me a viable alternative, & I might change my mind. Don’t expect me to vote only as a protest. It was the 7000 Nader protest votes in Florida that made Dubya President. This country cannot afford to make that mistake again.

Just finished watching the debate and Paul certainly had no support with that audience. However, I think the polictics in America is changing. I think many people feels like I do - our government takes on to many responsibilities (caused by both dems are repubs). I’m so glad to see the youth taking a second look at the credibility of big government and the money wasting programs it produces.

I would have to agree with Bob. Ron Paul is the candidate that I could vote for today and not feel dirty about doing it. However, I will not cast a vote that could in any way keep the GOP in the WH. I am so disgusted with current GOP policies that the Dems will have to screw up really bad before I ever pull the lever for another Rep. Even it that means amnesty for 20M illegals.

I’m sorry, but Ron Paul is the insanity vote. Eliminate the Fed? Eliminate or cripple the IRS, FDA, FTC, FCC, OSHA and EPA? No, I don’t think anyone who believes in those things should be a legitimate candidate for President of the United States.
