To me, what Jimmy says means that we're spending more time and energy fighting each other than we are actually trying to kill Al Qaeda and their ilk. Far too much of our energy is going into this, and it's going to draw out this war far more than is necessary.

You should take a look at the Wounded Warriors Project. It raises awareness for severely wounded combat U.S. combat veterans in Iraq and Afghanistan. It really puts a face on the cost of this war. Here's a link:

This is not new information, btw. It is just the first time it has appeared in the MSM, to my knowledge. It has been all over the web since the battle.

Something else makes me wonder a tad. Rupert Murdoch broke this story today, & also many of the 'leaks' concerning the Israeli raid into Syria in August through another of his papers, The Times of London. So what kind of a game is Rupert playing? Is he abandoning the sinking ship or just changing the rules in his own chess game or what?

Jimmy has come up with a reasonable sounding explanation. Mine sounds less likely, but just as possible. Bin Laden alive, or the belief he is, has done Bush & CheneyWarCorps more good than if he is known dead. If bin Laden had been killed at Tora Bora, it is highly unlikely they would have had enough support from the rest of the govt & the public to invade Iraq. After all that has happened since January 2001, can there be any doubt that Iraq was a priority since before Bush took office? Not in my mind, at least.

From "Wolf" at the Milblog Blackfive:
<blockquote>
Just to make things perfectly clear, to those joining late:

1. 2 snipers face charges multiple times in taking out known baddie
2. Said snipers were cleared by CID and others, but charged again on direction of LTG Kearney
3. Said LTG's actions could possible cause 'double-think' in field personnel actions when facing enemy
4. '<strong>'The One'' (Luttrell) said in his book they worried more about rear-echelon reactions and the media more than Taliban or AQ.</strong>

Think that if what COL Hunt says is true and proven or confirmed, that someone didn't get cold feet?

I have to tell you, saw the EXACT SAME THING when we had Mookie in our sights...</blockquote>

Rules of engagement have been softened because our military knows that every single mistake or error will be scrutinized, exposed, prosecuted and used as propaganda by the anti-war press to demonize the actions of the Bush administration.

We can expect more and more of this in the future.
