The competing currency Ron Paul wants is gold currency (i.e., Constitutional currency) to compete with the unbacked currency (fiat currency) that we currently have. He does not in any way support an Amero.

To Sammi : You're saying Ron Paul advocates a competing currency? But I hear so many folks talk about how a common Amero would kill us. Then again maybe its not Ron Paul words. Nevertheless, I think this is a dumb issue for the Fed to involve themselves in.

No One Has To Try To Undermine The Federal Reserve; They Did It To Themselves. Next Year Will Be Bad For All Americans Financially.

Frivolous Spending Of Congress Coupled With War And Maintaining The Empire Made The Monetary System Unstable. The Housing Bubble Just Lit The Fuse.

Ron Paul's Monetary Policy Will be Vindicated In 2008. (Too Bad We All Have To Suffer To Prove Him Right)

When The Food Riots Start, The Police State Will Follow. Prepare Now Or Suffer Greatly. The Executive Orders Are In Place And Only Need The Declaration Of "Emergency" To Be Enforced.

Save The Republic; Vote Ron Paul !!!

Constitution? Why would anyone think we should follow that? According to Bush "It's just a GD piecce of paper anyway". (and for those of you who can't tell, I'm being facetious)

I'd like to know why the gold, silver, and copper were confiscated. It's not illegal to own it, or sell it. This is just another attempt to try to put Ron Paul in a bad light even though it isn't directly related to him in any way. And why, if I were a vendor willing to take any paper, coin or any other thing (ie: a donkey, cow, car, house) as payment for an item I was selling, should I not be allowed to do so?

If it was Hillary v Not Ron Paul I would give him a third party vote. But if it really came down to Obama v Not Ron Paul then I would probably vote for Obama (I am opposed to most of his policies but he wants to end the war and he appears to be intelligent and decent).

A third party run would be worse than useless and wholly unnecessary. 3rd parties never get anywhere, no matter how much money they have and they have a hard time even getting on ballots.

This Liberty Dollar thing doesn't impact the Paul campaign in the slightest except perhaps to illustrate government abuses of power. Dr. Paul didn't authorize it or have anything to do with it, unlike Rudy who promoted a guy who is now being prosecuted. Dr. Paul's position has always been that the government should legalize Constitutional currency, not that people should break the law. Not that I'm implying that Liberty Dollar, which has been doing this sort of thing in public for years, actually broke any laws. That will be for the court to decide, or is that whole "innocent until proven guilty" concept too antiquated to follow (like the Constitution apparently has become)?

It is not illegal to own gold so if you have any you'd better hide it. The gov't has now taken it upon itself to steal from you outright. You could be next.
These were not 'currency' but gold, and can be used any way they wish.

hmmm, starting to sound like a free Land, free labor, and free men movement, but this time the internet linking people instead of the churches.

Ron Paul may be the man to run third party, but maybe not - I think his endorsement would be enough. the movement may be bigger than him. Either way, if the RP movement links to the established Libertarian and constitutional parties, as well as Greens that will compromise on their social agenda for a better foreign policy, plus some old reform voters, there could be a substantial vote, and a chance to establish a new party that would hold together - read some history regarding how the republican party got started, it is instructive.

If the 3rd party could carry some states, and gain electoral votes, those states could be targeted with gubernatorial candidates. Governors are the key to third party sucess, in my view.

I know checking facts has become scarce these days but this is grossly example of mincing words, another reason Ron Paul is so dearly admired.

Private money is Private money - pure and simple - Even ABC's parent company Walt Disney makes it.

If you go to Walt Disney World you can exchange US Dollars for Disney Dollars on 1:1 Ratio

All Walt Disney World® Resort shops and restaurants take Disney Dollars as a form of cash. Disney Dollars are available for a one-to-one exchange for U.S. dollars at the Disney Store nearest your home and at ticket booths, Guest Relations and Resort Guest Services locations at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Below is a list of currencies here in the USA. Some are called "hours' some are called "Blue Money", "Cape Anne Dollars".

Out of the list below they went after the "Liberty Dollar". It might be just me but it is probably to shed a negative light on Congressman Paul's campaign.

This is excellent for Paul's campaign, GOP or otherwise. I can't imagine most Republicans being against a right to choose what money a person wants to use - whether it's Liberty Dollars or Disney Dollars. This is something most Americans would support, just out of instinct.

Competing currencies is what he's been advocating. Hopefully, Paul will get more interviews to discuss this topic.
