I don't think Huckabee appeals to liberals AT ALL. He may have more heart than the average GOP candidate, but he's still a religious fanatic who would run this country from the pulpit - which is a troubling thing for all of us.

Obviously, he DOES appeal to the bible belt rightwing sensibility - in spite of his compassion towards the least amongst us.

As an atheist and scientist, I could never ever vote for someone who doesn't believe in Evolution. Huckabee is not a viable candidate for any reasonable, rational, intelligent person. That doesn't mean he won't get elected, however... (see current President). To me, support of Creationism is a red flag that a person is uneducated, dogmatic, vain, and inflexible. These are not qualities of anyone truly Presidential.

I'm a registered Democrat, but I support Ron Paul. I don't agree with him 100% but I think the changes he supports really need to be made. And hopefully he won't manage to get Abortion outlawed before he leaves office. However, if he doesn't get the Republican nomination, I will seriously consider voting for him as a Libertarian third party candidate. Otherwise, yes, I will take Obama. I really don't want to have to vote for slick Eddie.

Sullivan: Huckabee is a conservative whose character appeals to liberals[...]

I'm not quite convinced about this. There are plenty of liberals who despise GWB for being a Christian conservative, even though Bush has been less a champion of the religious right than a panderer to it. Huckabee, on the other hand, is a more bona fide champion of the religious right than Bush ever was. It occurs to me that if he becomes President, those same liberals are likely to regard him as no better, possibly even worse, than Bush.
