Is The Ron Paul Blimp Actually Going To Fly?
By Justin Gardner | Related entries in 2008 Election, Ron PaulPolitico reports today that everything is ready for launch.
However…
Didn’t they need to raise $350,000? That’s what they were originally asking for. And if you look at their site, they have just around $200,000 raised right now.
Here’s the only answer from the FAQ section that comes close to answering my question…
The original budget called for $350k to support the blimp. Since then other ideas such as a spot light truck, remote controlled “pace car” blimps to follow, and paid staff to support the program have all been added. What is the financial impact to the original $350k plan?Great question! We will be selling advertising space/time indefinitely. We hope to fund this advertisement until inauguration day!
And here’s a plead on the front page for funds by midnight tonight…
We must receive $200,000 in sponsorships by midnight on Friday for the blimp to be in Boston by December 15th!!! Please sponsor the Ron Paul Blimp Tour now!
So does this mean that all they need is $200,000 to get the thing launched and then they’re going to keep raising money to keep it going the full month? If so, done. They’re there.
But I still don’t know. Can anybody explain what’s going on with this thing?
UPDATE:
Okay, as expected, the $200K was a down payment, but they still have to raise the rest for it to stay up for month.
Thanks to the commenters for the info.

Sure. The $200,000 is the minimum down payment needed by that date in order to see it fly, so it’s definitely going up now. The rest of the money has to be brought in within another week or two I think, and all that together will make payment for a month.
It’s exciting.

From what I can understand, the 200K is like a down payment, to get it in the air. The organizer is probably talking with the owner and negotiating a deal as the details of the project changes. Most likely plan is to raise the extra 150K in advertising. If not, I imagine it would be billed.

Well according to the guy that runs that company and his video he does not like the fact that people are questioning if it is going up, he say yes it is and his video is on you tube right now.

Justin,
Let me guess. The blimp is another reason Dr. Paul should run as a third party candidate. LOL

It is going up - they need to keep raising more money to keep it up longer - but it is going to make the Boston Tea Party!!!!!!!!!
Just think of it up above the Federal Reserve Building- scoping it out prior to it being shut down by President Paul in January 2009 - no more subsidized cheap interest rates bailing out the big banks in New York - who donate so generously to the MSM candidates .
Ron Paul for President!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELL YES

Now we have air superiority (along with idea superiority). Unfortunately it took segregationist Governor Wallace to reveal the truth that “there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between” Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats willingly went along with the War in Iraq, suspension of Habeas Corpus, detaining protesters, banning books like “America Deceived’ from Amazon, stealing private lands (Kelo decision), warrant-less wiretapping and refusing to investigate 9/11 properly. They are both guilty of treason.
Support Dr. Ron Paul and save this great nation.
