I gave up watching CNN Headline News completely when it went to its latest format revamp, which took it completely down the infotainment dumper. IMO, the programming genius brought in to do that revamp should be tied to a chair in a dark, damp, cold subterranean chamber, in front of a TV showing "Golden Girls" and "Designing Women" reruns, until his brain turns to something resembling chicken droppings.

FWIW, it woul be interesting to see a comparision with the major networks' nightly news programs. I suspect the yield of substantive news is even much lower than for CNN and CNN Headline — which is really appalling.

To be fair, that's for CNN Headline News, which has always been the fluffier of the two common CNN products.
