Once again, the say-anything-to-get-elected Romney...well, said anything. This time, he countered McCain's honesty about the auto jobs not coming back with a chunk of verbal excrement that he will bring auto jobs back to the state.

Those jobs are gone because the auto industry went for cheap labor and the only way you reverse that is be making foreign goods more expensive...repeal NAFTA, impose tariffs., etc. Anyone who thinks that Romney is even remotely willing to do that is certifiable.

Was it the only reason he won? Name recognition was a biggie (on a side note, I cannot believe how no one pointed out that his dad's former Lt. Gov. and ex-Governor Bill Milliken was supporting McCain), but enough desperate people probably liked it enough to tip the scale.

I cannot believe anyone would vote for this guy....what will he say next? Return the confederacy to South Carolina? No more rain for Florida? Everyone gets a free car?

I've always liked Mitt Romney, mainly because I remember how he took over the Salt Lake Olympic Organizing Committee in the wake of its bribery scandal, got its house (and its budget!) back in order, overhauled security on relatively short notice after 9/11, and managed to put on a memorable and mostly trouble-free Winter Games in 2002.

We could do a lot worse than Mitt as our President. I'm a little torn about him winning the GOP nomination though, not just because I'd prefer a more libertarian candidate like Ron Paul or Fred Thompson, but because I'd rather see him as the next commissioner of Major League Baseball, another American institution that needs to have its act cleaned up, and soon.

You say Thompson is running a close 5th? Well I suppose 22,000 votes is pretty close. Paul (at 94% of precincts) has 52,377 to Thompson's 30,901.
Although with that kind of rationale, Rudy Guliani was a close a 5th in Iowa to Ron Paul. (NOT!)
