We all went through it. Maybe 8th grade, 9th grade, thereabouts. That young guy or young girl that you always thought about as a “friend,” maybe for years you thought of them in that light. The hormones start surging and then one day, out of the blue, you look at your friend and **BOOM!***… all of a sudden, you want so much more…

Condi’s had that kind of effect on me… politically.

Let’s get the ugly ones out of the way first–the ones we shouldn’t talk about, but we can’t help thinking them anyways: race and gender.

Most likely, the Dems are gonna go with Hillary or Obama. One appeals to blacks; the other, to women.

Condi Rice has the unique advantage of appealing to both!

Now, the more interesting stuff…

1) Highly-educated… multilingual

2) Foreign policy experience

3) White House “insider” for 8 years! Only if Hillary were to pick her for veep, and win, would Condi be able to say, “My boss knows as much about this place as I do.”

4) All of this comes without the tainting, spoiling, skeleton-filled closets normally found with someone who’s run for electoral office numerous times, especially in the legislative branch. Jack Abramoff probably hasn’t bought her any trips, she probably doesn’t have a deep freezer full of cash down in her basement. Never been married, as far as I know–but that also means she doesn’t have one or two or five divorces in her past.

She’s younger than Hillary… and has a killer wardrobe! :p

And last of all, unless there’s something we don’t know about, her calendar’s pretty “open,” starting about a year from now.

C’mon, folks… Am I right or am I right??

And it may not be electable against Obama, as it would certainly split independent voters, but against Hillary I think it could take the independents and even make the neo-cons who normally would not back these two, give the anti-Hill vote.

I’m not sure Clinton could or would team up with him though either. They’re from the same state and I believe then forbidden by the Constitution to be on the ticket together. I’m sure they could find away around that if they really wanted to though, like Cheney and Bush did in 2000.

Teaming up with Bloomberg would be political suicide for any Republican candidate, especially one as distrusted by the conservative base as McCain is. If, on the other hand, a Democrat teamed up with Bloomberg, it might be political genius. I think Hillary would be able to pull it off. A Democrat could pump up Bloomberg’s liberal social positions to satisfy the base, and play off his economic ideals to get votes from anyone concerned about the bleak economic outlook facing the next president.
