Andrew raises a good point. For anyone who is interested in encouraging Bloomberg to run, I'd suggest you check out the uniteformike.com site and avoid draftbloomberg.com like the plague. Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas. Lie down with Rafshoon, Baily, or any of the Unity08 crew at draftbloomberg.com, and you are going to need a flea collar. To my knowledge Uniteformike.com is exactly what you say it is, and has never pretended to be something that it is not.

Andrew, you seem like a smart, sincere supporter of Bloomberg and uniteformike.com does not deserve to be painted by the same brush as Baily, Rafshoon and company. I am sure you are smart enough to know that if you have received financial support from Bloomberg or Bloomberg proxies to promote his candidacy, you should disclose it.

I've said before that I think Mike Bloomberg could make a big contribution to this race and the election of our next president. I would not mind seeing him get some traction. But his cause is not being helped by these ex-unity08 clowns.

I'm always amazed that you folks completely overlook the highest trafficked and longest standing Draft Mike Bloomberg site (www.uniteformike.com). We are organizing the volunteers and getting Meetups going around the country. Check out our independent citizens effort today!

"So yeah, call me crazy, but I’m saying that Unity08 was simply a DraftBloomberg movement all along."

I think you need to correct your title then, to "Unity08 was DraftBloomberg in disguise". This will probably blow over since the whole thing has not gotten a lot of attention outside of a few blogs (including Donklephant). Still, it really sticks in my craw. Unity08 was a corporation. They raised over a million dollars from small contributors representing that they were "A". But if they were really "B" all along, that money was raised under false pretenses. That is minimally slimy, and potentially illegal. Fraud and election fraud come to mind.

Justin,
I just want to point out that I was covering similar ground a few weeks ago here at Donklephant in this post Disnity08". In that post I quote from the original version of the goodbye letter tht was posted at Unity08 where the writer said that Rafshoond and Baily had already joined DraftBloomberg (past tense). Those lines were edited out of the letter within hours. Why was it deemed neccessary to edit out a move tht was announced a few days later?

Donklephant could become part of the story, because it was at Donklephant, in a comment on the linked post, that Bob Roth, a VP at Unity08 indicated he was also joining DraftBloomberg, while denying that there is any connection There is at least one addition senior member of the Unity08 management that moved to DraftBloomberg.

I am not going to add more links here, because your comment spam filter intercepts anything with more than two links. However if you follow that post back to an updated and extended version of the post crossposted at my blog, you'll find links to Jim at Irregular Times. Jim determined that the domain "draftmichaelbloomberg.com" was purchased by Unity08 in June 2007, and is now redirecting to and owned by Draftbloomberg.com. Bob Roth is also to be found commenting on that site, explaining how this could happen. Anyway, the smell is a little more pungent than you indicate here.
