One Explanation Why Super Delegates Won’t Matter

Josh Marshall explains that everybody wants to go with a winner…

So whether it’s Hill or Obama, the remaining SDs are gonna get behind the person who’s winning. That’s Josh’s basic position.

The only issue with that is if somebody is catching up at the end and is within 20 pledged delegates. Then who’s the winner? I think it’s the person who’s up at that point, but a lot of people would then say, “Hey, this is what super delegates are for, they’re supposed to vote their conscience.” Sure, but do they really want to take the nomination away from the person with more pledged delegates?

Ultimately, I really don’t think so Josh’s point does hold up. Let’s hope he’s right.
