Plagiarism Ain’t Playing

I just got done watching the debate. Another wash, as usual and an additional debate in Wisconsin wouldn’t have changed the fact that most of us who’ve been following this election know exactly what these people are going to say before they say it.

So what does that leave us? The attacks of course. And Hillary tried to score some points tonight, but it turned into the biggest moaner of the night. Her “Change you can Xerox” comment actually drew some scattered boos, so I bet that issue dies tonight.

Back to the issues…

UPDATE:
Here’s the video…

Pretty evident who won this exchange.

“Change you can Xerox?” Better than “change you can stick a fork in”.

What I think we’re seeing (and I see a few other blogs concur) is the beginning of Hillary’s exit strategy. She’s beaten and she knows it, which is why she didn’t exactly pull out all the stops in tonight’s debate. Now her goal seems to be to pull out gracefully and live to (maybe) try again in 2012. Of course, if this is the case, one wonders how enthusiastically she will get behind Obama’s general election campaign.

The Political Scientist in me wonders if crowd reactions act as a primer on something like a “people meter”. For example, if you used the same segment but put in the noise of people cheering would the “people meter” react differently than if they hear booing. This could matter as I’m not sure you can assume the audience attending such an event represents a random sample in any meaningful sense.

    Metholodogy….THE FUN STUFF???
