Romney Would Accept VP Spot

How very un-Reagan of him.
Mitt Romney said in his first interview since departing the GOP race that he would accept the number two position on the ticket and that there is no lingering bitterness between him and John McCain.“I think any Republican leader in this country would be honored to be asked to serve as the vice presidential nominee, myself included,” Romney told FOX’s Sean Hannity in a broadcast set to air tonight. “Of course this is a nation which needs strong leadership. And if the nominee of our party asked you to serve with him, anybody would be honored to receive that call … and to accept it, of course.”
This would have the appearance of helping McCain’s economic weaknesses, but Romney’s record in Massachusetts isn’t exactly stellar in that regards.
Still, he’s already doing what any potential Republican VP nominee’s main job would be …attacking McCain’s opponents so he doesn’t have to…
“When it comes to national security, John McCain is the big dog, and they are the chihuahuas,” he said.
McCain/Romney…what do you moderate Republicans think about that?

Gag. But probably helps with the base. Won’t help with the lunatic fringe social conservatives who think Mormons are the spawn of the devil, but they were a lost cause anyway.

Oh yeah [slaps forehead] - helps close that funding gap too.

Mitt would be the best thing that could happen. I will never vote for McCain without him.

It could be placating the Old Guard - but my honest opinion is that no one wants to run as VP with McCain except Romney or that other guy from Hope, AK. The reality is that the Rep’s will be crushed this fall - and the “new” Rep leaders and the “fresh-young” faces don’t want any part of it. The Rep’s have no bench….no depth….and no talent. They are staring into the abyss………….isn’t that great?

I am very upset over talk that Sen. McCain should select a woman as his running mate, just based on the fact that the candidate is a woman! The candidate who is the most ethical, inspiring, conservative and driven should be selected, and that is Gov. Sarah Palin (yes I know, she is a she).

Better than Huckabee. Or any of the other social cons. Adds economic strength to the ticket. Probably placates the talking heads. He could do better but he could do worse. I’d really like to see him go for broke and pick another RINO.

Why shouldn’t McCain ask who he considered running with before??
Besides, Kerry is much closer to being conservative than Willard could ever try lying to be.

Forgot to leave this truism;
“At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child - miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill disciplined, despotic, and useless. Liberalism is the philosophy of sniveling brats.” - P.J. O’Rourke

It may well be an “honor” for him, but for the rest of us it will be “dishonor”, and we’ll vote for another ticket!

Here’s some better ones - by actual thinkers who don’t lean dangerously to the right.
“Conservatism is the blind and fear-filled worship of dead radicals”
–Mark Twain
“Liberalism is trust of the people tempered by prudence. Conservatism is distrust of the people tempered by fear.”
–William E. Gladstone
“A man who has both feet planted firmly in the air can be safely called a liberal as opposed to the conservative, who has both feet firmly planted in his mouth”
–Jacques Barzun
“Liberals tend to put the onus of your success on society and conservatives on you and your family.”
–Dennis Prager
